The day(Aug 7, 2008) after we got to Zurich we got up early and took the train to the Interlaken area up in the Swiss Alps. The pictures do not do justice to the beauty we say. We took a boat ride on one of the lakes in Interlaken, it was a bright sunny afternoon and a perfect day to be on the water and see the sights. We then got back on the train and went further into the mountains to Lauterbrunnen. The weather changed as it does in Switzerland (according to Heather). So we checked into the hotel quickly and started to look around and we hiked up to a view point behind a waterfall. It was drizzly a little and cloudy but we could still catch a peak at the Alps. Yan come up for dinner (Bern is about 45 min away). What a great guy! Kyle had fun planning a trip with him for next summer. Yan is a cyclist and Kyle and him have a plan to hop on bikes next summer and see Switzerland. We will see. Heather was asked to come back and nanny next summer too. We enjoyed getting to know Yan and were also able to get some tips on where to hike the next day.
We took trains and trams around the next day and walked around Swiss towns and enjoyed the mountains. We went up to Kleine Scheidegg and hiked around and waited for the clouds to clear so we could go up to Jungfraujoch (the top of Europe) but the clouds didn't really go away so we didn't get the clear view we wanted to. But we enjoyed a Swiss lunch and listening to all the cow bells.
