Leaving Lauterbrunnen we met Yan at the Bern train station and went back to the Cooks. The next day we went to Ebenalp and rode the tram into the Alps. We had hot chocolate at a restaurant clinging to the side of the mountain and continued the hike down. Yan showed us how to milk a cow but couldn't get Kyle to try it. We all laughed as Yan told Heather (and a couple of American families we didn't know) that one side is chocolate milk and the other side is white milk. All the families had their cameras out taking pictures of Yan and Kile. Of course, with Emily and Heather right there, we couldn't help but sing songs from Sound of Music as we hiked down the mountain. Even Reed admitted that it was great to hear the music and words that were going through his head as we walked. The outlying hills were green giving way to sheer face rock all around us. Several times we stopped to rest in green pristine meadows and gaze up at the Swiss Alps around us. The only sound that could be heard were cow bells in the distance. A small slice of heaven right here on earth...what a memorable day!
